COVID-19 Updates

Larimer County is following the state Health Order  – Larimer County is aligned with statewide Colorado public health orders and recommendations. There are currently no local public health orders related to COVID-19. Businesses may implement their own policies so long as they are meeting the minimum requirements set forth by the state of Colorado. Please be kind to others and respectful as everyone adapts to these new requirements and recommendations.

Mask-Wearing:

The amended Executive Order states that fully vaccinated people can go without masks in public indoor spaces unless the setting requires otherwise.

Unvaccinated people over age 11 are encouraged to continue wearing masks in all public indoor spaces where members of different households are present.

Masks are still required in certain settings, including in schools for unvaccinated students, teachers, and staff, as well as other settings which are laid out in the Executive Order.

  • Sandbags & Dumpsters – All available sandbags filled by our volunteer partners with Serve 6.8 will be delivered by the end of the day today. There will not be additional deliveries so if you want to stock up for our next monsoon season, now is the time. Dumpsters are also available for FIRE-RELATED debris through July 31st. For a map of sandbag and dumpster locations, please use the following link:  Sandbag and Dumpster Locations

People have been dumping debris outside the dumpsters on the ground. If this continues we will have to remove the dumpsters from these locations. Please make sure all debris goes into provided dumpsters.

  • Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed  – CPRW organized a project at Bert Belew’s property in Monument Gulch on June 9th. Wildland Restoration Volunteers led the day, utilizing a group of their volunteers, and trained the Larimer Conservation Corps land crew personnel. Wattles, seed, mulch, and four log and rock check dams were installed.
  • Suppression Repairs – Fireline repair work for dozer and handlines are complete on south side of the fire. Contractor will be working in Rustic and Red Feather Lakes this week.
  • CSU Research Study – Researchers at CSU and the Rocky Mountain Research Station in Fort Collins are looking for residents who live within or near the Cameron Peak Fire area to share their experiences and discuss their thoughts regarding the fire and the post-fire landscape. The research aims to understand resident perspectives on the decisions and strategies used to manage the fire, impacts from the fire, and future forest and fire management efforts across the landscape. Findings will help inform future communication and management strategies across the landscape to mitigate wildfire risk and seek common understanding and shared goals for future decision making about cross boundary forest and wildfire management.

The current focus for the research is on the following communities or areas: Red Feather Lakes, Crystal Mountain /Buckhorn Canyon / CR 44, Glen Haven and Drake, and Rustic.

The goal is to speak with residents via phone, video chat, or in person throughout this summer and early fall. If you live within or near these communities and would be willing to share your perspectives, or for more information, please contact Chad Kooistra at (970) 217-5239 or chadk@colostate.edu. Chad is a social science researcher with the Public Lands Policy Group (PLPG) at Colorado State University and is leading the study with Courtney Schultz (CSU Associate Professor and PLPG Director) and Sarah McCaffrey (Research Social Scientist with the Rocky Mountain Research Station).
